Hello Friends and Family,

I'm producing a film and acting in it also! Here's how this crazy story began....

A year ago I was bored, in an acting lull and wanted something to work on. I turned to my friend Danielle, a screenwriter, for something to work on. She handed me "La Soledad" and I immediately fell in love with the script. I told her I wanted to produce it - although I had no idea what that meant. All I knew was that I really wanted to play the character of Inez. So, without waiting for a production company to buy the script and potentially not cast me, we tried to launch the project last summer. But to no avail - life and day jobs got in our way.

This spring we decided to try again with what I like to call the Recession Special. There's no time like a recession for a creative renaissance, and with the economic dip at hand I was able to create a talented creative team. Without pay, I've been able to attract people by offering a project to friends that needed experience, wanted to attempt a new skill set or were waiting out their own creative lulls. Robin, an assistant at Dave Clemmons Casting (a big NYC casting office) finally gets to be a head casting director and put her name on a project. Tom at the Krasny Office Talent Agency (one of my agents), wants to transition into casting and is learning the ropes by being Robin's assistant. My old roommate Dan, is a post production supervisor (Sundance/Discovery Channels) and is finally getting a chance to be an editor. Etc. etc. - you get it.

But then things got serious! I found Rob, our director, via craigslist who's been making a living doing commercials and music videos who was looking to transition into narratives! With Rob came his friend Richie, a Director of Photography coming off of "Sex and the City 2" who was looking for a film to showcase his new RED camera (the latest in HD technology)! And Richie likes the script so much he's letting us use all of his equipment: lighting, cables, camera, lenses, etc.

My plan was running lines with a few friends using a hand held camera in my apartment - feeding people spaghetti and hot dogs. Now I've got a professional director and DP lighting and shooting my film with the hottest new camera!! After all this hard work, we're really close to making something bigger than I ever imagined. I never thought it should cost money to act - I just wanted to do it. And after getting so many amazing people to work for free, I only need to raise money to handle the logistics for our 3 day shoot. I need to figure out how to feed 20 people, provide electricity for the equipment, buy drives to store the massive files of footage, make rent and handle whatever else Murphy's Law throws at me.

With your generosity and support we can make our goal of $3,000 by the time production starts in 2 weeks! I've set up a convenient PayPal account for donations:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=8974109.

PayPal is safe, easy and free - all you need is an email address, credit card or bank account. We'd greatly appreciate whatever you can offer, and of course a special credit in the film will go to all donators - be it money, food, equipment or a helping hand on set.

Here's to making dreams come true!
Alanda

Thanks Alanda! So there you have it folks. We need your help. You all know how to get in touch with me via Facebook if you'd like to volunteer on set. Use the link above to donate using PayPal. This project truly is a 'Labor of Love' and we have all become a family.
Thanks for your support in advance.

Katherine
